Maine has a long tradition of landscape painting. What started as a clearly defined genre has evolved into a rich and varied translation of Mother Nature herself. We have put together an interesting and challenging group of painters each with their own way of seeing what is before them in their landscape. Realism, gestural, abstract, emotional, bold and quiet all describe the work of these fine artists, including, William Zorach, Roger Winter, Chris Huntington, Bernard Langlais, Lois Dodd, Arthur Thompson, Norman West, Charles Thompson, Abbott Meader, Kristin Malin, Jan ter Weele, Nina Jerome, Robert Solotaire, William Kienbusch, Karl Schrag, Marguerite Lawler, Deborah Randall, Brad Maushart, Dennis Fournier, Jeffrey Bye, Willa Vennema and James Elliott, among others.
