Jeff Bye, "FDR Drive(lower East Side)", 2006, oil on canvas

THE CLOWN is excited to bring a solo show of Jeffrey Bye's work to Portland, Maine. Jeffrey Bye has a substantial painting history starting with classes at Portland College of Art in 1987, from there he pursued his BFA at Rhode Island School of Design, finishing with a MFA from the Graduate School of Figurative Art, New York City, 1996. He was quickly welcomed into the Copely Society, Boston, Mass., shortly after graduation with a permenant place as a Copley Master (being named as the youngest master in the organization's history) in 1998. Bye has shown in New York City, Philadelphia and San Jose, California, taking first place in the 1996 NYC National Juried Exhibition of Figurative Art. The newest work from Jeffrey Bye's experiences in New York and vacations in Kennebunkport, Maine, have a vibrant energy. Bye is working hard to stay in the city which keeps his canvas full of people, places and life. This work captures the essence of that rich and full life he lives. It is amazing when paintings can express with color and brushwork reality in both its visible and invisible forms. Come to THE CLOWN to experience these amazing paintings in person. Please join us on Thursday, June 1st, 5 - 8 pm, to welcome Jeffrey Bye, back to Maine.
